36.Cauchy

Central part of Mare Tranquillitatis. When the sunlight comes in at the right angle (terminator) here near Cauchy we can also see the smaller   craters and rilles, the prominent Rupes Cauchy, and the typical domes Omega and Tau. At the summit of Dome Omega Cauchy, using higher magnifications, we can find a crater. East of Maskelyne we see a smaller rille.

CAUCHY - Augustin L. Cauchy (1789 - 1857) French mathematician.

Crater. (12,4m ø ) (Dept: 2,610m) (9.6°N, 38.6°E) Circular crater, well visible at full moon.

MARE TRANQUILLITATIS - Sea of Tranquility Named so by Riccioli.

Mare. (421,000 km² ) (721Km /424Mi ø ) (8.5°N, 31.4°E) In the western part ridges, and domes.
