The western edge of the visible side of the Moon, the south-western edge of Oceanus Procellarum, and the north-eastern edge of the Mare Orientalis Basin. Further more on the chart, the Grimaldi basin, countless rilles, and prominently: Rima Sirsalis.

LACUS AESTATIS - The Summer Lake. Named so by Julius Heinrich Franz (1847 - 1913)   

Lacus (90km/56Mi ø ) (1,000 km2 /386 Mi2 ) (14.83° S, 68.57° W) Two smaller areas of lunar mare located near the western limb of the Moon.

LACUS AUTUMNI - The Autumn Lake. Named by Julius Heinrich Franz (1847 - 1913)

Lacus (183Km /114Mi ø ) (9.9°S, 83.9°W) Lacus Autumni lies in the northeastern quadrant of the gap between  Montes Rook and  Montes Cordillera. Very hard to observe from the Earth.

MONTES CORDILLERA - Montes Cordillera. Named by Johann Heinrich von Mädler in 1837.

Montes (574km /357Mi) (Height: 6,000m /19,685ft) (48.7°N, 34.3°W) Part of a circular mountain range, forming the outer rim of the Mare Orientalis basin.

DAMOISEAU - Marie Charles Damoiseau (1768 - 1846) French artillery officer and astronomer.

Crater (37Km /23Mi ø ) (Dept: 1,200m /3,937ft) (4.8°S, 61.1°W) Crater, eroded, small central mountain, irregular and complex, interior floor, with a series of ridges and small clefts.

GRIMALDI - Francesco M. Grimaldi. (1618 - 1663) Italian mathematician, physicist, astronomer, author of the Moon map used by Riccioli as a base of his lunar nomenclature.

HERMANN - Jacob Hermann(1678 - 1733) Swiss mathematician. Worked on problems in classical mechanics.

LOHRMANN - Wilhelm Gotthelf Lohrmann. (1796 - 1840) German selenographer and surveyor.

OCEANUS PROCELLARUS - Ocean of Storms. Named by Giovanni Battista Riccioli in 1651.

Mare (18.4°N, 57.4°W) (4,000,000 km² / 1,500,000 Mi² ) Largest lunar sea. (North-South axis: 2,592 km/1,611Mi) Very flat to the center. (80m altitude difference in a 400km diameter circle).

RICCIOLI - Giovanni Battista Riccioli. (1598 - 1671) Italian astronomer, philosopher, theologian, and author of Almagestum Novum, the work in which the still used lunar nomenclature was introduced.
